Citylights is a public art project utilising light-boxes in public streets for the display of printed exhibitions, and produces and stages events focusing on collaboration, digital art and street art. Citylights at Centre Place was founded in 1996, and a second site opened in 1998 at Hosier Lane. Citylights has exhibited work by more than 300 Australian and international artists and is viewed by more than 200,000 pedestrians weekly. Walls surrounding Citylights feature an everevolving and informal layering of graffiti and street art, added to daily by international and local artists. Exhibition proposals are accepted at any time. Citylights is an independent project and is directed and curated by Andrew Mac since 1996.
